This policy sets out the standards the house holds to in sourcing its stones and in the conduct of its business. It applies to the house, to its people, and to the partners and suppliers it works with.
Our stones come from Sri Lanka's gem regions, principally Ratnapura. We buy at the cutting houses and from a few long standing partners on the island, and we do not deal in any stone whose origin cannot be documented at the cutting stage.
We carry out due diligence on the houses and people we buy from, in line with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains and the requirements of the Responsible Jewellery Council. We know our suppliers, we keep a record of the chain of custody, and we decline any stone whose provenance we cannot establish.
The group is certified to the RJC Code of Practices, the recognised standard for responsible conduct across the jewellery supply chain. The certification can be confirmed in the Council's own member directory at responsiblejewellery.com.
We will not handle any stone that has financed conflict or been won through the abuse of human rights. Where diamonds accompany a Ceylon stone, they are sourced through the Kimberley Process and conflict free channels.
Every stone is independently certified by an internationally recognised laboratory. Its origin and any treatment are disclosed in full and in writing, and the certificate accompanies the stone. Where a stone is unheated, this is stated. Where any treatment exists, it is declared. We disclose everything and overstate nothing.
We do not tolerate child labour, forced labour, or any form of modern slavery, in the house or anywhere in our supply chain. We hold to fair and lawful working conditions, to the dignity and safety of every person who works on our pieces, and to the core principles of the International Labour Organization.
As a registered dealer in precious stones, the house verifies identity and source of funds for significant acquisitions, screens against the sanctions that apply, and keeps records as the law requires. The Hong Kong entity is registered with the Customs and Excise Department, and the details are on our Company and Legal page. This is handled quietly and in confidence.
The house holds to a zero tolerance position on bribery and corruption. We neither offer nor accept improper payments, facilitation payments, or inducements of any kind.
We favour partners who treat their people fairly and their surroundings with care, and we hold regard for the small island communities our stones come from. We work to keep the footprint of what we do modest and considered.
